The San Jose BioCenter is pleased introduce ABD Insurance and Financial Services program on Risk Management and Insurance: An Entrepreneur�s Guide. Risk Management and Insurance can be complicated and confusing. At the same time, they are critical elements in the ultimate success of your business. Learn how to develop the basics of a sound Risk Insurance program that will allow you to anticipate what insurance policies to buy as your company grows.

During a 60 minute presentation and Q&A; session learn:
� What insurance policies a start up usually buys.
� How to evaluate different insurance companies.
� How to decide on levels of insurance.
� What the 5 steps of the Risk Management process are.

Speakers:
Eric Long, Vice President, Technology Services Group, ABD Insurance & Financial Services
Eric joined ABD�s Technology practice as a broker in 2005 and is responsible for risk assessment / analysis and insurance and risk management program design, along with client management and service delivery for high technology and life science firms.
Eric has quickly established himself as an effective client advocate and creative insurance advisor, working with his growing client base to improve the quality of their coverage and achieve the lowest possible total cost of risk.
He currently oversees the risk management and insurance services ABD delivers to more than 30 corporate technology and life science clients, ranging in size from start-up businesses to large, global, publicly-held corporations.
Prior to joining ABD, Eric spent 8 years in various business development, sales and management roles at AT&T;, where he focused on assisting large technology companies with business continuity and disaster recovery plans, leveraging AT&T;�s suite of products and services.
Eric is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and is currently in the process of earning his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.

Peter Daly, Senior Vice President, Technology Services Group, ABD Insurance & Financial Services
Peter Daly is a senior vice president at ABD Technology. He provides the direction for a team of risk management and insurance specialists who deliver brokerage services to clients. Peter has specialized throughout his career in emerging technology business while developing expertise in the special needs in this market segment.
Peter graduated from Princeton University in 1976. He started in the insurance industry in 1980 as a commercial lines marketing representative for the CNA Insurance Companies. From 1983 to 1992, while with California Casualty, Peter worked with emerging technology clients in developing their worldwide insurance programs.
In 1992, Peter joined COMPRO Insurance Services, which was later purchased by Minet Insurance Services, Inc. Since joining ABD in 1997, he has worked on a variety of insurance programs for information technology and life sciences clients, including Directors� & Officers� Liability as well as Products Liability for Life Science companies.
He continues to bring his expertise to bear for clients in such areas as Directors� and Officers� Liability and Products Liability for Life Science clients. A life long student, Peter earned his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1989 and has completed CPCU and CRM courses.
Peter lives in Woodside, California with his wife and four children. He has been chairperson of the Woodside Recreation Committee, co-chair on the search committee for a new superintendent for Woodside School and on the board of the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
